Commodore 64 8-bit synth emulator

This is a free VST plug-in for Windows that reproduces the retro 8-bit gaming sound of the classic Commodore64 computer.

There are ways to create the 8-bit sound by using converters and such, but it doesn’t get any easier (or more fun) than with this plug-in that you load up to any VST compatible music production software.

Visit de la Mancha’s website to download the FREE plug-in.

Now this isnt an example produced by the plug-in, but if you’re a old school video game geek like me, you get the idea…

…or how about a new Contra boss level soundtrack 🙂

Plug ‘n Play DJ controller for Itunes!

default

Mobile DJing doesn’t get any easier than this. Fork over $249 for the software and controller bundle, install the program and plug in the contoller. Done.

Vestax and algoriddim have partnered to create the spin DJ controller for the djay software app that runs with iTunes.

Other mobile laptop DJ setups require additional hardware (like a multi-channel sound card for headphone cue-ing) and more expensive software and DJ controller hardware. Even though this sounds like a basic setup for novices that don’t need all of the bells and whistles of more high end gear, Vestax has been producing professional DJ gear for over 25 years (some of their mixers are the industry’s finest) and I wouldn’t be surprised if this product receives some high praise once it hits the bedrooms.  Cue it up here.

World’s smallest external USB DJ interface

audio2dj

Portable DJ-ing is getting smaller and more portable (along with everything else these days), so Native Instruments released this week the smallest USB hardware interface for all you mobile DJs out there.

The Audio 2 DJ is about the size of your blackberry phone, but packs a professional punch. It contains high-end audio converters and high-gain ¼” stereo outputs, and is compatible with most DJ software. The $119 price point makes this a piece of hardware to have.

(If you haven’t got a clue about how DJ setups are put together, stay tuned for one of my tutorial write-ups on how to get a basic setup going)
